The zero bill home

The "zero bill home" is a home designed and equipped with a combination of green technologies to generate, store, and manage its own energy — effectively eliminating or significantly reducing the homeowner's energy bills.

These homes are typically highly energy-efficient and include solar panels for electricity generation, a home battery for energy storage, and a heat pump for heating and cooling. A smart energy management system, such as Lumo, optimises the use of this technology by deciding when to use stored energy, when to export the surplus power back to the grid, and when to import a small amount from the grid — all while ensuring the home remains comfortable for its occupants.
